Question 241968: f(x)=1/x and g(x)=2/x^2 find (f+g)=2/x^2 This question is giving me fits, I keep getting different answers. Help!
Answer by Theo(13342) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
f(x) = 1/x
g(x) = 2/x^2
(f+g)(x) = f(x) + g(x) = 2/x + 2/x^2
multiply 2/x by x/x to get 2x/x^2
now you have common denominators and your equation becomes:
(f+g)(x) = f(x) + g(x) = 2x/x^2 + 2/x^2 = (2x + 2)/x^2
I assumed this is what you are looking for.
If not, let me know and we'll work from there.
