First, get the y terms alone on one side of the equation. Do this by adding -8x to both sides. Note this does not change the validity of the equation, since you did the same thing to both sides of the equals sign:
8x-8x-4y=12-8x
Simplify the Left Side:
-4y=12-8x
Now divide each side by -4:
-4y%2F-4=%2812-8x%29%2F-4
Simplify:
y=12-8x%29%2F-4
