Often it is best to clear the fractions, in this case by multiplying by 2 thru eqn
.
3(y+4)=2*20 -2
.
3y+12 =40-2
.
3y = 26
.
y= 26/3 = 8.67
.

(1.5)(8.67+4) = 20-1 =19,,,,,,,ok
