Question 206010: Determine if the relation is a function or not.
{(1,2), (1,2), (-3,1), (5,0)}

Answer by HyperBrain(694)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A relation is a function if for every x in the domain, there correponds one and only value of y in the range.
Domain: {-3,1,5}
Range: {0,1,2}
by inspection, every x in the domain corresponds to one and only one y: it is a function.
Note: Notice that the ordered pair (1,2) is repeated in the set. In a set, repetition of elements are always ignored.
