Question 19335: Can someone please help find the LCM
(x-1)^3(x+1); (x-1)(x+1);(x-1)^2(x+1)^2
Thanks for your help.

Answer by venugopalramana(3286)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(x-1)^3(x+1); (x-1)(x+1);(x-1)^2(x+1)^2
TO FIND LCM YOU HAVE TO LIST THE PRODUCT OF ALL FACTORS TAKING THE HIGHEST POWER OF EACH FACTOR COMMON IN ALL EXPRESSIONS
..GO ONE BY ONE STARTING FROM THE FIRST ONE
(x-1)^3(x+1)=(x-1)(x-1)(x-1)(x+1)
(x-1)(x+1)
(x-1)^2(x+1)^2=(x-1)(x-1)(x+1)(x+1)
we find
(x-1)..highest power=3
(x+1)...highest power=2
there no other factors ...hence LCM is the product of these highest power factors
so lcm is................(x-1)^3(x+1)^2
