In my opinion, when the two equations are both in Ax+By=C form, elimination is easiest.
(1) multiply the second equation by -2 and add to the first equation
(2) that eliminates y, giving you a single equation in x that you can solve
(3) then substitute that value of x in either of the original equations to get an equation in y that you can solve to finish the problem
