Answer by ikleyn(52781)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.

(a) 240 miles are 8 times 30 miles.

    So - W H A T ? ?? ???

(b) To answer (b), multiply the price per gallon by 8.

Happy calculations !

Comment from student: The anser is actually 16 for the amount of gallons because it says from vegas and back.
If it was to get to vegas then it would be 8. For the part B its multiplying 16 by 3.04 not because we are trying
to find the price to get to vegas and back. If we was just trying to find the price to get there it would
be multiplying by the 8. Great job explaining the answer overall though :)

My response :   I totally agree with all parts of your comment !

Moreover, I see that you are and were in position to solve this problem ON YOUR OWN without my participation,

so I, actually, do not understand, for what reason you posted it to the forum . . .
