You want to get rid of the y by elimination in the system below: x-6y=35;
10x-2y=35. If you multiply the top equation by 4, by which number will you multiply the bottom equation?
-----------
x-6y = 35 times 4 ----> 4x-24y = 140
10x-2y = 35 times ? --> Ax-24y = 35B
================
I would multiply the 2nd eqn by 3, and use the 1st eqn as is.

Multiply by 12 or - 12, but that's very INEFFICIENT though.
If it matters, the best way to eliminate y is to MULTIPLY eq (ii) by - 3 to get eq (iii). Then, ADD eqs (iii) & (i).
