What you do for these types of problems is substitute for x.

I will do part (c), where we let x=a+2 in f(x):
f(x) = +3-x%5E2+
f(a+2) = +3+-+%28a%2B2%29%5E2++=+3+-+%28a%5E2%2B4a%2B4%29+=++highlight%28+-a%5E2+-+4a+-+1+%29+
The other two parts will produce numeric answers.
