5/6 - 1/2 = 1/3
1/3 of a tank = 8 gallons
So, full tank = 8 x 3 = 24 gallons
Proof:
1/2 tank = 12 gallons
Add 8 gallons of gas
= 20 gallons
20/24 = 5/6
